Impact of UV-absorbers on UV Protective Properties and Light Fastness of Coloration of Cotton Fabric Dyed with Monofluorine-s-Triazine Reactive Dyes
Abstract
In the present work, the light fastness and the UV protection factor (UPF) of cotton fabric dyed with three monofluoro-s-triazine reactive dyes were examined. A part of the samples was treated with the UV absorber on the basis of the oxalanilide. It was found that its presence improves the light fastness of the samples for the red dye only. The measurements of the transmission of the UV radiation and the calculated UPF values have shown that the presence of the three dyes significantlly improves the protection caracteristics of the cotton fabric against the harmful UV radiation. The UPF values increase with the increasing concentration of the dye on the fabric. The highest protection was reached using the blue dye. On the basis of the measured CIEL*a*b* parameters, the colour differences caused by the presence of the UV absorber were calculated.Downloads
