Abstract

This paper has illustrated the special features of the elastanes during the pretreatment and finishing of woven and knitted fabrics. The normal process steps were described. The use of the stenter and the special configuration required for the processing of fabric with elastane fibres was illustrated. A further focus of the paper was the discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of the processing of tubular or open-width knitted fabrics. It was demonstrated that the open-width finishing of the knitted fabric is more efficient and produces higher quality results than finishing in tubular form.
