Abstract

The contribution discusses the factors considerably influencing the surface friction coefficient of yarns. According to the current knowledges, the coefficient of good waxed yarns is until 50 % lower than that of not waxed yarns. For this reason, the samples were knitted on automatic hosiery knitting machine, gauge E 6, with waxed and not waxed cotton yarns 50 tex, under input tensions of 5, 10 and 20 cN. The mechanical properties of yarns are studied and the parameters of the structure of knitwear analyzed.
